Basic feeding guidelines

Food intake may very due to species, breed, age, health and activity level. Proper weight on both dogs and cats will have the appearance of a slim waist without backbone protrusion.

Feeding instructions for dogs.

Adult dog feed approximately 2.5% of body weight.

Example: 10 lb Adult dog.
.025 x 10 lb = .25 or 1/4 of a pound of food per day.

Example: 50 lb Adult dog.
.025 x 50lbs = 1.25 or 1-1/4 pound of food per day.

Puppies should be fed approximately 3.5% to 4.5% per day more nutrients and calories are required.

Feeding instructions for cats.

Adult cat feed approximately 1/2 ounce per pound of cat.

Example: 10 lb adult cat should eat 5 ounces per day.

1 lb of City Dog food should feed a 10 lb adult cat approximately three days.

Example: 16 lb adult cat should eat 8 ounces per day.

1 lb of City Dog food should feed a 16 lb adult cat approximately two days.

Kittens should be fed more do to their need for more nutrients and calories.
